I was moving a work ute, heard the news on the radio and didn't know how to react. I went upstairs to the office and said 'have you heard? Everyone got straight on the net, and it was confirmed. The man who made us cringe with 'Crikey' and 'havalook at this little beauty', was gone.

It is not a shame. Steve once said that it he was to ever get injured, or killed, by a croc, 44 years of work would be wasted. He never wanted to die that way.

well maybe it's for the best that you didn't become a zoologist because you need to realize that protecting wildlife is not about how you feel at the time, it's about doing what you've got to do, to help the planet.

The world is less bright without Steve.

They staged it. It was actually peanut butter and something else I think. Have a look for it! :)

Very well said. It would actually be detrimental to Steve's memory to hurt any animal. He was always the first to say that if anything happened to him while working with animals it was his fault.

you know what? now everybody hates you for saying that.

yes but i was very unstable at the time, the very REASON i was going to become a zoologist was the message he put out there, to protect our worlds wildlife because it is the only one we have. its not my fault i went off the edge.

Sister, you gotta remember that Stevie would have been the last one to want you to hurt ANY animals, we have to PROTECT them. His whole message was to take care of all animals.. NOTHING IS OVER, the fight to preserve nature should go on, because STEVE IRWIN would have liked us to ...we have to carry on his mission..... : )

I am still reeling from the shock, over a year later. It's one of those things you never get over.
